Weston, Missouri Red Barn Weekend

This Sunday, October 24th, the KCI Student Ministry will make a trip to the Weston, Missouri Red Barn to enjoy the country and the corn maze.  We will leave right after church at noon and return to the parking lot by 3pm for student pick-up.  There is no cost to get in, but the corn maze will be $5.  There are hot dogs and pulled pork sandwiches available for lunch for purchase by the students as well.  Friends are welcome to come and this is encouraged.

All students participating (guests, also) will need to bring a parent or guardian signed hold harmless form to be able to participate.   Here is the link to the form:  Weston Red Barn Corn Maze Daze.  Additional copies will be available the day of the event, but must be signed by the students parent or guardian.

If you would like more information on the Weston Red Barn, here is a link to there website:  http://www.westonredbarnfarm.com/

I look forward to spending the afternoon with all of you!  Have a great week.

Weston Corn Maze

On Sunday, October 24th at noon, the Student Ministry at KCI will be taking a road trip to the Weston Corn Maze.  We will meet after church in the PV-KCI Connection Center and leave from our parking lot.  We will return and the students can be picked up at PV-KCI at 3pm.

Please note that all participants will need a signed hold-harmless agreement prior to leaving the church.  Adults who drive students will have to have a valid drivers license and vehicle insurance.  A copy of each will need to be made prior to leaving.  The cost for the event will $8 per person. Students are encouraged to bring a friend.

Can you feel the excitement?

One of the things that strikes me when I speak to other people who have visited PV-KCI, is that they find our church to be friendly.  Isn’t that odd?  If a church is where like minded people can come together to worship the same God, wouldn’t it be the most inviting place in the entire world?  Or if people who are alienated from God come into a church to seek Him, wouldn’t it make sense that the people who already know him would be accommodating to those who don’t?  It just seems odd to me that all churches would not be inviting and friendly to others.  After all, as I have heard it put before, we are all just beggars, and some of us have found Bread that can be shared with others.  Just a random thought to get the Sunday morning juices flowing.

Today we are blessed in two big ways.  First, it is Third Sunday Potluck a week early!  Second, we have a guest speaker with us from the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission, our partner in a new work that has started in St. Nicholas de Mole, Haiti.  He will share about the vision and the possibilities we have as a church to participate in this work.  If you are thinking about a missions trip this year, this is your chance to learn all that you will need to know to start preparing for a trip.  Don’t miss out on this opportunity.

I look forward to worshiping with you this morning at KCI!

Here is a new post that will help to introduce the Student Ministry Blog from KCI.

The first post…I’m a little nervous

Greetings, parents.  This is the first post from me on our KCI Student Ministry Blog.  How exciting and a big thank you to Angie Lomas for the terrific job of getting us up and running with a great looking blog.  Woot-woot!!!

This is a great place to keep up to date with what is happening in the Student Ministry world of KCI and to get the low-down on what is coming up.  What an awesome tool this gives us to further the Kingdom of Christ in the Northland.

Just a few notes to consider:

  1. We are in the planning stages of starting Sunday night home groups this fall, probably in November.  We have 3 homes to rotate through (thank you’s to the Flaughers, the Hansens and the Bosters for opening up their homes!)  I have selected our first curriculum set to work on (The Seven Checkpoints) and now all we need are volunteers to staff the evenings and students to come!  More on this soon!
  2. Sunday mornings, known as KFC (Kids Following Christ) is growing, both in numbers and in the depth of discipleship with the students.  Big kuddos to Kevin Oetting, a super teacher for challenging our students to grow.  This year we will be studying Jesus all year.  This will coincide with Pleasant Valley making 2011 a Red Letter year.  It should be exiting to see what will happen over the next several months.
  3. The Gathering, our Wednesday night activity is continuing to grow, as more students are coming and bringing their friends.  Currently, we are studying the Hard Sayings of Jesus and we meet from 6:30 to 8:30 each Wednesday for fun, fellowship, worship, discipleship and homework time.  Please be in prayer, as we are searching for a LIVE worship leader to come in and lead our worship time.

That is enough for this post.  I would challenge each parent to ask their student what they are doing in student ministry.  I would love to hear your feedback.

In Christ,

Chip
